RWL Water Case Studies in the Power Industry

  • Conversion of Power Stations to Natural Gas
    Selected through an international tender process, RWL Water successfully designed, manufactured, and supplied containerized ultrapure water (UPW) systems for several combined-cycle power stations. Over 15 demineralized water production modules were supplied. The compact design allows for ease of onsite installation and ongoing operation and maintenance, while still meeting this major power customer’s demanding engineering standards.
  • Remote Power Stations
    One of the world’s largest iron ore mining projects located in Western Australia constructed a gas-fired, combined cycle 450 MW power station. RWL Water designed, manufactured, supplied, constructed, and commissioned the water treatment plant. The scope of supply included the complete water plant, large storage tanks, and project management.
  • Innovative Cooling Water Supply
    RWL Water developed a complete reverse osmosis (RO) effluent desalination system that receives wastewater treated by a membrane bioreactor (MBR) and then delivers high-quality water for use in the factory’s cooling towers, allowing the reuse of up to 2,400 m3/d.
  • Nuclear Energy Industry
    RWL Water has been awarded a contract to supply sixteen skid-mounted mobile water treatment systems to a company dedicated to resolving common equipment and inventory-related problems in the nuclear electric utility industry. The systems were evenly split between 2,725m3/d mechanical filtration systems and 1,363 m3/d brackish water reverse osmosis (BWRO) treatment systems. Depending on the emergency needs, the mobile water treatment systems can be utilized as standalone units or easily connected to create integrated treatment systems. The system design allows it to be easily transported.
  • Wastewater Treatment
    A North American power group had three sites that were out of reach of any municipal sewer connection point. RWL Water provided each location with a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to treat the wastewater on site. A major engineering firm hired RWL Water to solve their wastewater treatment challenges for three Australian coal mine sites. Each site was installed with a WWTP with a flow rate of 60 m3/d. These are secondary treatment systems.
